Banks of the Roses Farm
Welcome to Banks of the Roses Farm. We are currently developing Banks of the Roses Farm on 41 acres of pasture land interspersed with woods and some wetlands in northeast Indiana. We plan to breed Irish Draught (not Draft) Horses. This breed is endangered and on the UN Rare Breed Conservancy list. To our knowledge, no one in this area breeds Irish Draughts. We intend to concentrate on breeding purebred Irish Draught stock. We believe there is a need and a place for this noble and versatile breed. Our hope is to introduce it to many people.
Thank you for your patience as our farm and our website develop!

We’re finally back on track!
As I write, Abbey is currently at the vet’s barn awaiting a breeding to Hang On Johnny RID. There isn’t room to describe all the ups and downs of the past few months. We took some really hard economic hits, and this breeding very nearly didn’t happen. But, due to the enormous generosity of my inlaws, Abbey will be a momma. I only hope the breeding works out — I got her to the vet this afternoon only to find that she’s ready to breed *now.* We’re getting the semen shipped as soon as possible, but I really hope we aren’t doing all of this stuff too late. I guess we’ll just have to see if everything works out!
More information about Hang On Johnny RID is available at the website: www.blackshireequestrian.com/HangonJohnny.html He’s a gorgeous older stallion, with some really valuable bloodlines. Cross your fingers…
